Secy Edu launches counselling helpline for students

JAMMU: Secretary School Education, Ajeet Kumar Sahu today launched counselling helpline for students to address examination stress and other issues being faced by them. The helpline was launched at a function at Directorate of School Education, Jammu,
The counselling helpline, for students of government schools of Jammu division, will have the contact number 6006800068 and email Id [email protected]
Director School education, Anuradha Gupta and other officers of School education Department were present on the occasion.
The Secretary said that students can call or mail at the given email ID from 10.30 am to 4:00 pm on all working days to seek telephonic guidance or book appointment for exclusive and face to face counselling. He said in case of any crisis 24×7 service, to be made available soon, will be provided or referral will be made.
The teachers, parents, guardians and school administrators can also communicate through this helpline to give feedback, reports of behaviour aberrations in students and suggestions.
In order to compliment tele-counselling with individual face to face consultation, the HOIs of six educational institutions have been directed to create counseling rooms in schools where the caller can be referred to for individual face to face counseling.
The Counsellors will be available for face to face individual counseling on fixed days as per the appointments fixed with the students.
The Secretary complimented the Director SED and counselling team DSEJ for this initiative and assured full support to this initiative in every possible way.
In-charge counselling cell DSEJ gave a detailed presentation on modus operandi of working of this helpline and initiatives of counselling cell.
Pertinently counselling cell at this office is undertaking a lot of activities pertaining to emotional well-being and career guidance of school students.
Other officials present on the occasion included Joint Director JSK, CEOs of Jammu division, DIET Principles, tele counsellors.
