‘Huge’ Number Of HMVs Stranded As Fresh Landslides Block Highway: Traffic Department, Decision On Reopening Tomorrow

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of the world, was closed following fresh landslides as a result of which “huge number” of heavy motor vehicles were stranded, a traffic department official said on Monday.
“Today traffic disrupted due to Landslide occurred at Kharpoa, Banihal, men and machinery on job. There is huge number of HMVs stranded on Jammu- Srinagar highway,” he said, adding, “Therefore decision regarding movement of Vehicles on highway shall be taken tomorrow on 05-02-2019 after assessing the weather/road conditions.”
