Advisors conduct public outreach programme at Sopore

Baramulla: As part of the Public outreach programme initiated by the State Administration to get an appraisal of the public grievances, Advisors to the Governor, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, Vijay Kumar and K Skandan today visited Sopore where they listened to the public grievances.
The outreach programme marked the participation of various deputations and other representatives of the area.
A deputation of Traders Association demanded the establishment of a proper garbage dumping site in the main town Sopore so that proper solid waste management is ensured. The deputation also requested about the adequate deployment of traffic police personal for the smooth flow of transport in the town. Other demands and grievances for the overall welfare of the area which includes beautification of Jhelum embankments, fencing of Eid Gah, construction of toilets in main market etc.
Another delegation of Civil Society Sopore appraised the Advisors about various grievances of public importance. They demanded the establishment of a Park at Sopore, establishment of Mini secretariat, expansion of Municipal limits, construction of Bridge at Seer Jagir besides extended other demands pertaining to road macdimization, development of infrastructure, availability of essential commodities etc.
A delegation of Fishermen Association demanded dredging of Wular lake.
A deputation from Tarzoo raised the issue of staff deficiency in Tehsil office and demanded redress their grievances on priority for better public services delivery.
Another delegation of Transport Association demanded expansion of Bus Adda at Sopore town besides removal of encroachments from footpaths.
The Advisors gave patient hearing to the deputations and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into. They also passed on spot directions for redressal of various grievances and directed the officers to maintain close liaison with the local population so that their grievances are redressed at the earliest.
Moreover, the officers were directed to conduct field visits regularly so as to remain apprised about the problems faced by the people so that same can be projected before the government for quick redressal.
, the Advisors convened a meeting of officers in which they took a comprehensive review of developmental scenario of Baramulla district. They were briefed by the District Development Commissioner, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash about the progress made in different sectors.
On the occasion, the concerned agencies were directed to gear up the pace of work on various ongoing developmental projects so that the target is achieved within stipulated timeframe.
Earlier, the Advisors visited Fruit Mandi Sopore to inspect various facilities and to get first hand appraisal of the same. They interacted with the functionaries of Fruit Association Sopore who appraised them about various demands for the overall development of the Mundi. They demanded the establishment of quality centre, cold storage, exit points for smooth vehicular movement and other infrastructural development which includes potable drinking water supply etc. The Advisors assured them that their grievances will be looked into positively for their quick redressal.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, officers of Civil and police administration, various district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
