Srinagar: Amid tight security arrangements put in place for the January 26, a full dress rehearsal was held in Srinagar and Jammu on Thursday with students from different collages and schools presenting colorful programmes.

The full dress rehearsal was held two days ahead of January 26 (Republic Day) celebrations here with authorities informing that all the arrangements were put in place ahead of the main function.

The full dress rehearsal in Srinagar was held at Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium here. Top officials from civil administration and police were also present during full dress rehearsals.

During the full dress rehearsals here, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan also took salute on the march past presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, NCC and others.

The students from different educational institutes presented colorful cultural programmes while as the tri-colour was also unfurled during the function.

Notably, in connection with the rehearsal today at SK Stadium, the traffic movement from Sonawar upto Ram Munshi Bagh Road stretch including Dalgate-Ram Munshi Bagh, Radio Kashmir-Ram Munshi Bagh & Gupkar-Ram Munshi Bagh was suspended since the wee hours of this morning to 02:00 pm.

The traffic police City Srinagar had also informed that the traffic on road stretch mentioned above will also remain suspended on Jan 26.

“The motorists intending to travel from South Kashmir-Pantha Chowk towards City Centre shall adopt Bypass road stretch and vice versa. Similarly the motorists intending to travel South Kashmir from City Centre and Down Town areas shall adopt Batamaloo-Tengpora-Bypass or Rambagh-Natipora road stretch to reach Pantha Chowk,” the traffic police had said, adding that any inconvenience caused is highly regretted.

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the function said that the arrangements for the main function on January 26 are being finalized from last couple of days.

He added that the security arrangements in connection with the main function have already been finalized
