Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday termed as unfortunate the silence adopted by the world community over Kashmir issue even as it paid glowing tributes to six armed youth.
“The lingering Kashmir dispute since past seven decades is not only threat to peace for sub-continent but entire south Asian region,” said a spokesman of amalgam while paying tributes to Dr Shamsul Haq Mengnoo, Amir Ahmed Bhat, Shoiab Ahmed Shah, Syed Rubani, Sabzar Ahmad and Touseef Ahmad who were killed in two separate encounters at Charar-e-Shaief Budgam and Heff Shirmal Shopian.
“It is the extreme repression and use of brutal force which is pushing young generation towards the wall and convinces them to pick arms.”
Day in and day out the youth are summoned to Police Stations were they are put to physical and mental torture, the spokesman said.
“Many are arrested and detained under PSA’s Every day people, especially youth become the target killing of forces anywhere in the valley and these methods of repression at a point become intolerable thus force the youth to opt for the armed struggle.”
Hurriyat Conference said that Kashmiri people have been fighting hard for their birth right since past several decades and the priceless sacrifices offered by the people including youth, women and elderly will never be forgotten.
The Hurriyat Conference said that to protect these sacrifices, it is highly inevitable to show steadfastness and stand united.
“The silence adopted by the world community over Kashmir issue is unfortunate. The lingering Kashmir dispute since past seven decades is not only threat to peace for sub-continent but entire south Asian region, adding, time demands world community to impress upon New Delhi for the resolution of this oldest dispute for everlasting peace in region.”
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat Conference spokesman strongly condemned the use of pellets on the photojournalists in Heff-Shrimal that left four of them injured. He said that it is highly undemocratic that photojournalists who were carrying out their professional duties were showered with the pellets.
The spokesman also condemned the CRPF action at Habba Kadal where in a youth was seriously injured, stating that the forces “have gone berserk and are targeting innocent civilians.”
