Day 2: Highway Closed After Avalanche Hits Jawahar Tunnel, Landslides In Ramban

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed for second consecutive day on Tuesday as
snow avalanche hit Jawahar Tunnel while there have been landslides at several places along the thoroughfare in Ramban district.
Reports said that due to the avalanche, both tubes of Jawahar Tunnel are blocked and rescue teams have been rushed to the spot.
There are also reports about landslides at Digdol, Panthal, Magarkote and Khoni Nallah in Ramban district and authorities have pressed men and machinery to clear the road.
“No vehicular movement will be allowed on the highway and any decision would be taken after clearance of snow and landslides,” said traffic official.
