Portable water scarcity hits Shopian villages, officials say ‘will provide water tanks’

Shopian: With no proper portable water supply schemes in effect Shopian villages are suffering since a  decade.

Residents of Sugan ,Chillipora malnad Hefkund and Dragad Villages of Imamsaheb belt in Shopian told INS ,”There is no water plant for us and most of the population is surving on water resources like streams and tube wells.”

Vakil Ahmad a resident told INS that water pipes were laid in village, connecting to springs before decades. As those springs slowly dried effecting whole area for drinking wwate.

GH Ahmad Dar accused PHE department of  callious approah.

“They have this one answer for all these years that schme is closed and they have no funds,” Dar accused.

“The area has 15000 population and near about 500 hhouseholds”

Heffkud villagers also accused of no water supply scheme.

XEN PHE Nisar Ahmad said: “I have visited these villages personaly recently and I also feel the people are really ssuffering”

“I ordered to JEE to bring a new plan and project, ” he said, while  promising to provide them with a water tank on daily basis.
