Srinagar: United Jihad Council, an amalgam of various militant outfits, on Monday blamed “Indian agencies” for last week’s killing a Sikh youth in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
“In past also, India through the unknown murderers tried to divide the Kashmiri society and made umpteen attempts of civil war but failed as people understood the ploys at their inception,” Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman, General Secretary of UJC and chief of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen said in an emailed statement.
The Skih youth, Simranjeet Singh son of Nanak Singh, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Khasipora village in the Tral on Friday last.
Referring to massacre of Sikhs at Chattisinghpora 19 years ago, he said that “Indian troops” who committed the gruesome incident are moving freely and have been rewarded with bravery medals and promotions.
“The sacrifices of the Sikh community are unforgettable,” he said, adding, “If International Human Rights Bodies carry impartial investigation into the killings, the truth will come to fore.” The UJC’s statement comes day after various Sikh bodies questioned silence of the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik over the youth’s killing.
