Library Orientation Programme held at KU’s South Campus

Anantnag, Jan 1: Kashmir University’s South Campus organised a Library Orientation Programme to educate its newly-enrolled students about various facilities available at the institution’s Central Library.
Prof Fareed Ahmad Rafiqui from the University’s Department of Law was the chief guest on the occasion.
In his address, Prof Rafiqui underscored the importance of books and libraries for students to become well-informed scholars and academicians.
“A university library is a very important place in the university education system. Reading more and more books is a way to attain scholarship,” he said.
The daylong programme for batch 2018 students was aimed at apprising students about the importance of library resources in their academic endeavours.
Students from different departments participated in the programme and got to learn about multiple facilities at the Central Library of the campus and their utility.
Ms Humma, AssistantLibrarian, Central University of Kashmir, was the resource person and informed the students that, apart from books, journals, newspapers and magazines, they can easily access a range of e-resources to enrich their knowledge base.
Director South Campus Prof Muzaffar Ali Andrabi deliberated upon the importance and relevance of libraries in development of institutional excellence.
He insisted students to make best use of the library facilities which are being updated and upgraded regularly to make them more student-friendly.
The event was organised by Bilal Kaloo, in-charge Central Library, South Campus, who also presented the vote of thanks on the occasion.
