Kupwara: Three students including two girls of government institutions Kupwara district are set to represent state of Jammu and Kashmir at National Science Exhibition Programme at Delhi, scheduled to be held next month.

 They will be part of the eleven member state team.

Sheeba Rasheed 13, one among the trio, said that: “I had many of the times seen Specially Abled people wishing death rather than life just because of the problems they faced.r special ability (Disabled), I have witnessed such people mostly Students giving up many times”.

Sheeba said that she always wanted do something for them and an idea to make ‘Crutches cum chair’ for them.

She is her 10th  at Boys High School Shumnag but was student “I discussed this idea with my teacher and head teacher of my institution. After putting our efforts successfully made “Crutches Convertible Into Temporary Seat”.

They innovation earned Sheeba an appreciation at District and state level. That time she was in her 9th standard.

Her father works as a driver.

Showkat Ahmad sheikh, Son of, Mohammad Maqbool Sheikh from Poshpora B of Kupwara District is a son of a labourer.

Showkat now in his 12th standard had participated in Science exhibition when he was in 9th standard.

Showkat’s trigger to innovation was a train accident he had witnessed on TV.

” I always thought of bringing an alternate to the over flow of passenger at Railway crossing junctions and successfully made “Automatic Gate At Railways Crossing” which got me at national level which is a proud movement for me and my parents”, Showkat said.

Showkat is presently enrolled at Boys Higher Secondary school Trehgam.

Tabasum Gull, the third candidate belongs to Hangah Mawer of Handwara Township made ‘Off Grid Egg Chick Incubator’.

“I belong to a far off place where people hardly manage their expenses and other expensive appliances for household chores which can be useful to women folks working all day long,” she said.

With an aim to minimize the work load and to make cheaper appliances, she created, ‘Off Grid Egg Chick Incubator’.

As Per the officials, The INSPIRE Award – MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspiration and Knowledge) is organising the programme providing financial assistance to the students to prepare their respective models under the assistance of escort teacher of their respective institution.

In District Kupwara the programme was held more than a year ago in which three of the candidates from government run institutions topped the list to take part in up coming national science exhibition programme in New Delhi.

 

The science exhibition programme was organised by Inspire awards and was held across Jammu and Kashmir
