Srinagar: In a coordinated effort, the Enforcement Wing of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today collected a fine of Rs 3900 from erring shopkeepers in Srinagar city.
The FCS&CA and LMD have launched two-week long special drive across Kashmir valley against errant shopkeepers. As per the departmental press release, the first week has been designated for Srinagar district, while in the second week other districts will be covered.
Today the Joint inspection team headed by Deputy Director FCS&CA Mohammad Akbar and Joint Controller LMD V S Sambyal today visited Khanyar, Rainawari and other adjoining areas and booked butchers, restaurant owners, fruit and vegetable vendors, chemists and druggists, besides other shopkeepers.
The errant shopkeepers were booked for failing to maintain the quality of food items, for not putting on rate list of all essential commodities, expiry of products, illegal and excess profiteering, sale of underweight products, and non-issuance of bills on sale of medicines.
