TRAL: Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) holders in Tral area on Thursday held a protest demonstration here demanding release of their pending payments.
Scores of protesting IAY holders, assembled here in Wazilkulnad village and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
The holders said that “out of three installments only one installment were given” to them despite the passing of many years now.
“We were given houses under IAY scheme. But unfortunately only one installment were made available to us,” said one of the holders namely Noor Ud Din Gojjar.
He said the rest of two payments have not been released from last three years.
“We are demanding to release our pending payments as soon as possible,” he said.
The protesters said that their houses are incomplete and requested concerned authorities and Governor to immediately look into the matter.
When contacted, Block development officer (BDO), Tral, Primrose Bashir, told INS that, scheme was changed from IAY to Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana (PMGAY), due to which their funds were not released.
He further said that holders have to change their documents from IAY to PMGAY scheme for further processes.
“There pending payments are likely after government formation in Kashmir” Primrose said.
