Anantnag: The government forces launched a cordon and search operation following a specific input about the presence of militants in the Hassanpora area of Arwani Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
On Saturday afternoon, the forces including 1 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and police sealed all the entry and exit points of the village.
Sources told to INS that a heavy contingent of forces reached the village and were conducting a search operation in the area.
Soon, scores of people took to streets and clashed with government forces. The government forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesting youth, reports said. Meanwhile search operations were going on when this report was filed.
