Water scarcity hits Wadpora Kupwara, residents protest

Kupwara: The residents of Wadpora village in northern Kashmirs kupwara district on Friday morning blocked Kupwara-Srinagar Highway while protesting against Public Health Department  over failing to provide portable water to their area for a week now.

Reports said that, the residents dozens in number assembled in Wadpora market and blocked the road following which traffics movement was also halted for a while,the protesters raised anti District Adminstration and PHE slogans for failing to provide the water supply to their area for a week now.
The residents alleged the concerned department has failed to provide the portable water to their area, over a week now, despite notifying the Field  staff nd officials from the concerned department nothing has been done so far, In this harsh bone chilling cold our women folk are forced to fetch the water for household works from streams and other sources which are Unsafe for drinking and other house hold use.
Eye witnesses said that, traffic movement on highway was halted, which was resumed after police intervention.
Officials from the PHE department reached the spot and assured the protesters that their genuine demand will be looked into with sseriousnes.
The protesters later disparaged from the scene peacefully.
