Kulgam Teen Makes It To IPL, Picked Up By Mumbai Indians For Rs 20 Lakhs

Kulgam: 17-years-old boy Rasik Salam, hailing from a small village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, made it to the IPL on Tuesday.
Rasik, after the conclusion of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, was called for trails in the Mumbai Indians camp. Post these trails, his name was included in the 351-member list who went under the hammer.
The pacer from Ashmuji Baan village, 25 kilometers from the main market of Kulgam, was picket by Mumbai Indians and went for Rs 20 lakhs in the auction.
Rasikh Salam is the youngest son of Abdul Salam Dar, a teacher by profession. Rasik bowls fast medium and can swings the ball both ways, locals who played cricket with him in the Kulgam said.
Rasik made his debut against Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this year. A class 12th in the Higher Secondary School Ashmuji Baan, Rasik passed his 10th class examination from Hanfia Model Institute in his native village. His brother Irfan Salam Dar is pursuing MPhil while his two sisters are also studying.
Shabir Ahmad Dar, Rasik’s uncle told INS that it was proud moment for family and a big achievement for district Kulgam in general and native village in particular.
“We hope that selectors repose confidence in him and give him a chance to play high level cricket.”
