Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday inaugurated the fourth-edition of Kashmir World Film festival at Tagore Hall in the presence of prominent bollywood celebrities and eminent artists.

Dr Farooq was among the chief guests during the occasion.

Addressing a gathering at the festival, he said that he will take every step to help the people of the valley in preserving art and culture. “People who love art and culture, I am ready to help them out take it ahead for the future generation,” he said.

Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Sheikh Imran and Dr Sameer Kaul who is among the top oncologist were the guest  of honour.

Bollywood celebrities also attended the festival including Tabu, Madhur Bandarkar, Raju Chadda, Rahul Mittra, Raj Bansal, Nagesh Bhonsle, Rajit Kapur, Vaani Tripathi and Ashok Kaul.

Indu Sarkar film, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar’s was screened as the opening of the festival.

Bollywood’s charming actress, Tabu while speaking to the audience said that she always loves to visit the valley.

“Kashmir is like home to me and I feel privilege to be here. No doubt people are inviting me to valley, but I personally love to be in the vale,” she said.

Founder and Director of KWFF, Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said that his aim by running this festival will be a way for the future generation and by the will of god and his efforts he will take the festival to the highest level.

 “I believe in art and culture that is the need of the hour and I am always ready to promote it,” Khan said.

The seven day festival that began on Wednesday will conclude on Dec 04.
