Kulgam: Two militants and an army soldier were killed while two paramilitary CRPF personnel were injured in a gunfight at Redwani area of Qaimoh in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.
Officials said that a joint team of army’s 1RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Redwani around midnight following inputs about the presence of militants. A gunfight ensued at around 3 a.m. and two militants were killed and their identity was being established, they said. A soldier Prakash Yafav was critically injured and was evacuated to army hospital. He succumbed to injuries later, they said.
The militants also fired UBGL outside encounter site area towards CRPF in which two paramilitary men were injured and they were shifted to hospital, they said.
Meanwhile, massive clashes erupted in the area soon after the news about the encounter spread in the area. The authorities have already snapped internet services in the area.
