Srinagar: Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Sunday condemned the killing of a 10th-Class student Nooman Ashraf Bhat of Balsoo Yaripora Kulgam and injuring of twenty civilians including a twenty month old child namely Hiba Nisar of Kapran Shopian.
In a statement issued here, the lawyers’ body also condemned setting ablaze of six bikes of the locals, who had gone to the Police Lines Shopian, to collect the bodies of six slain militants.
“Bullets and pellets were fired by the ruthless forces at Batagund Shopian, most of whom the injured were rushed for treatment to different hospitals,” the lawyers’ body said.
While terming the use of forces as a worst kind of human rights violation, the KHCBA appealed the civilized members of the international community to wake up from the deep slumber and play their role in stopping the Indian forces from committing the “genocide” of the people of Kashmir, whose fault is that they ask India to concede to their right of self-determination which is guaranteed to them by the 28 Security Council Resolutions and the promises, pledges and utterances made by the Indian leadership both inside and outside the Indian Parliament, which have remained unfulfilled for the last 70 years.
The Bar Association maintains that by killing innocent people of Kashmir, by use of bullets and pellets, the Indian government will not succeed in silencing the people forever and that it will have to settle the issue of Kashmir in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
The Bar while supporting the call given by JRL has also decided to request its members to abstain from court work tomorrow in protest against the killing of innocent people of Kashmir by the Indian forces and also to show solidarity with the families whose kith and kin have been killed or injured.
