New Delhi: The high security airports of Jammu and Kashmir will be guarded by personnel of the Central Industry Security Force (CISF) at Jammu and Srinagar airports from next year, reports said.
According to media reports the CISF will take over the security apparatus of all three sensitive aerial installations from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and will guard Jammu, Srinagar and Leh airport.
“They will look after security of the the Jammu and Kashmir airports from January 1,” reports said.
“At the Leh airport they will replace the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP),” reports quoting officials said.
The decision to change the guard of airports in the state was taken at a high-level meeting between the Ministries of Home Affairs, Civil Aviation and security agencies recently.
The three airports of state are considered to be highly sensitive due to militancy in the state.
