Abducted 20 days back, family yearns to see their beloved safe, appeal ‘all’ to ‘leave him alive’

Kulgam: Twenty days have passed since the lone bread earner, Shiraz Ahmad was abducted by unknown gunmen from Laroo village of Kulgam district. While police says they have no clue of him yet the family yearns to see their beloved safe but as time passes skepticism is taking over them. 

on 22 October in Laroo Kulgam gunfight raged  between militants and government forces that ended with the killing of three militants but seven civilians lost their life when the entered the house were gunfight happened.

The explosives went off and the civilians died in the compound of the house.
On 25 October 2018 unknown gunman abducted the homeowner whose house was at centre of militant encounter.
Shiraz’s wife told INS that on 22 October, 2 or 3 militants with guns ran from outside the house and suddenly entered in our house.

“We were fear struck, Army was chasing them and the exchange of fire erupted,” she said.

She said that :When militants entered in our house, I and my family members hid in a room, neighbors saved us.

“On 25 October at 4:30 pm some unknown gunman came in vehicle and they abducted my husband namely Shiraz Ahmad Bhat. No body is talking about us or him,” she complained.

Shiraz Ahmad is a lone bread earner for his family and is a Sumo driver by profession  and some times he would work as labourer under MNREGA scheme.


He has 2 daughters, Muskan is studying in standard 4 while Binishta is in 2nd grade.

“He has one sone namely Imad who is only 2 years old,” she said.
His father and mother is also living with him in his family, by profession his father is a farmer, he works in farms.

The family is living in a rented accommodation and have no source to pay the rent even.

“We appeal to DC Kulgam, SSP Kulgam, Police Officials, Millitary Officials, Militants and other agencies which is working in Kashmir please leave him if he is alive or if you have killed him then hand us over his body. We want to see him for last time,” she pleaded.

SSP Kulgam Harmeet Singh told INS that:  We did not get any clue about kidnappers yet but investigation in the matter continues.
