The vehicles in large number could be seen stuck in the traffic mess for hours together in Jahangir chowk, interiors of Batamaloo, Hari Singh High Street and other adjacent areas.

The pedestrians as well as the commuters find it difficult to reach their destinations on time, saying that the authorities must take some measures so that the people won’t be caught in traffic jams for hours.

Though the rush of vehicles in view of Darbar Move has reduced but the traffic mess caused due to diversion plan has left hundreds of commuters to suffer. “Authorities must devise alternate plans to curb the regal traffic mess in Srinagar,” Sajad Ahmad, a commuter said, adding that the diversion plan has caused immense hardships to them and there is need to take further steps to ensure free and smooth vehicular passage in the busy Lal chowk and other adjacent areas.

Besides, the commuters form Old City said that the people who are occupying the roads by parking their vehicles on the roadsides especially in City areas further deteriorating the situation.

In city areas, the locals allege that the commuters park their cars wrongly, therefore bringing traffic mess in the area. “There is already congestion in city areas and parking vehicles illegally is making the area more prone to gridlock,” Musaib Ismail, a student said.

IGP Traffic J&K, Basant Rath in an interaction with Radio FM said that they will find some alternatives to tackle the huge rush of vehicles that is being witnessed in Lal Chowk and other adjacent areas.
