Srinagar: After about seventeen hours, the power supply has been restored in several parts of Kashmir Valley, officials said .
Kashmir Valley is reeling under bone chilling cold and spent last night without electricity following damage to main supply line due to the snowfall.
“The restoration process is going on and electricity has been restored in several parts of the valley,” said the officials associated with the process. Deputy Commissioner  Bandipora in a tweet said that power supply has been restored upto Ajar receiving station in the north Kashmir district. At the same time, reports said that several areas in the Srinagar and other parts of the Valley are still reeling without the electricity.
According to Chief Engineer PDD Kashmir, Hashmat Qazi, last night “heavy” snowfall in the Valley resulted in trees with thick foliage coming down heavily on electrical lines, damaging most of the 33KV lines.
He said intermittent rainfall and the heavy snowfall led to frequent faults in the electrical system affecting supply in most parts of the uptown and civil line areas of Srinagar.
