Massive clashes erupt in Sopore, slain militant’s funeral procession tear gassed

Sopore:  Police on Friday morning teargassed funeral procession of a militant from Sopore who was killed in a shootout in Handwara during intervening night of Thursday-Friday.

As the funeral procession was moving police tear gassed mourners leading to clashes,  eyewitnesses said.

Massive clashes have erupted in Arampora area between protesters and government forces and according to locals police has used tear gas unabatedly and pellet gun too has been put to use.

“Funeral prayers are yet to be held for slain militant Naseer Ahmad Teli from Arampora,” Locals said.

They said that he will be buried in the graveyard at main market.

Sopore is on boil since night after news of a local militant’s spread in town.

While interner remains suspended in the area schools remain closed as well.
