Srinagar: Clashes broke out in Sangam area of southern Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Wednesday after the news that one of the two militants killed in Nowgam gunfight in Srinagar was a local, spread in the area.

Reports said that scores of youth hit streets raising pro-freedom, anti-India slogans and hurled stones at the government forces.

They said that government forces lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.

Clashes in the area were going on when this report was being filed.
