Civilian death toll mounts to 5 in Kulgam

Srinagar: The civilian death toll has risen to five in Kulgam district of south Kashmir as four among over fifty injured persons have succumbed to injuries, two of them at SMHS hospital here.
Besides, injuries to over fifty persons injured either in blast near the site of encounter or in government forces action against the protesters, five civilians have been confirmed death in the incident. The authorities have snapped internet and as well mobile phone in the district which is creating trouble in gathering the information. Also people who have their relatives living in Kulgam are in tizzy and concerned about the well being of their relation.
Three of the dead civilians have been identified as Ubaid Laway son of Mohammad Maqbool Laway, Uzair Ahmad and Mansoor Ahmad, all residents of Kulgam.
Five out of 11 injured persons were brought to District hospital Anantnag and referred to Srinagar hospital.
An official at Anantnga hospital while confirmed to INS said that 5 injured persons referred to Srinagar hospital had bullet and pellet injuries.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam, Dr Fazil Kochak confirmed the deaths of three civilians in Kulgam.
Police said in a tweet here that one civilian was killed when a blast went o their the site of encounter in which three militants were killed.
“Civilians visited the encounter site immediately after operation inspite of request not to visit as thorough search is to be made for explosives once flames douse off . They didn’t listened and thus visited the spot immediately after forces withdrew and some explosive substance went off resulting in injuries to civilians. One civilian namely Ubaid Laway son of Mohammad Maqbool Laway of Laroo died,” police tweeted .
“We request them not to visit the site again,” the police officer added.
