SVO charge sheets top revenue official s for paying compensation against non-existent land

Srinagar: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) on Saturday produced challan against Revenue Department officials including then ACR Pulwama and then Tehsildar for fraudulently paying compensation to private persons against non-existent land in 2010.
The charge sheet was produced by Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir against the accused before the before the competent Court Pulwama for judicial determination, according to a statement issued by the information department.
“During the investigation of case FIR No. 37/2010 P/S VOK during which it emerged that the accused public servants of Revenue department Pulwama had entered into a predesigned criminal conspiracy and fraudulently by abusing their official positions had processed prepared and paid compensation against non-existent land to the tune of Rs. 18,30,340/- in favour of the private persons (beneficiaries) who were not entitled to receive such amount thus causing wrongful loss to the state exchequer,” a statement of the SVO said.
The charges levelled were established against the accused public servants and beneficiaries including the then ACR Pulwama, then Tehsildar Awantipora, Patwari Halqa Awantipora; Naib Tehsil Awantipora, bank officials and private beneficiaries. Their name has not been revealed in the statement issued by the state’s information department.
