Kashmir going through blackest chapter of history: JRL

Srinagar: Stating that “Kashmir is going through the blackest chapter of the history”, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Saturday strongly condemned the killing of a pregnant woman in exchange of firing in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
The JRL headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik expressed its serious anger and grief over the killing of of Firdousa wife of Khursheed Ahmed Sheikh of Shadimarg, Pulwama.
“The gory incident in which Firdousa was killed who was six months pregnant reflects the nature of atrocities being inflicted on the people of Kashmir,” the JRL said in a statement and prayed to Almighty to grant patience to the husband of slain woman and give her highest standards in paradise.
The leadership termed the brutal thrashing of people including women at Trichal Pulwama at the hands of forces as the “worst form of state terrorism and the direct outcome of the unbridled powers given to the armed forces in Kashmir.”
The leadership said in absence of any accountability, the forces are killing, maiming and thrashing the people anywhere and anytime at their wish and will.
“The Kashmir is going through the blackest chapter of the history where in people are killed, youth thrashed, maimed, people of all ages subjected to torture and detention, properties vandalized and that resistance leadership are either confined to their house or lodged in various jails so that they are barred from raising voice against the ultimate oppression unleashed by the lakhs of forces across the Valley.” The JRL said that Kashmir was witnessed the vicious cycle of killing of youth and there is hardly any day when youth are not killed on one or the other pretext and the streets of Kashmir are turned red almost every day.
The JRL said that the basic reason for the serious and fragile atmosphere prevailing in Kashmir is the Delhi’s’ hegemonic approach in delaying the resolution of Kashmir issue.
They said instead of accepting the ground realities, Delhi was following its iron fist policy by banking on its military might which has further aggravated the situation.
The JRL urged the world community to intervene at this crucial juncture and to take serious note of the situation prevailing on ground in Kashmir so that people are given a sense of security.
The JRL also urged the world human rights organizations to take serious note of the unabated human rights violations and impress upon Delhi stop its aggression on innocent Kashmiris.
Expressing serious concern over the safety and security of hundreds of Kashmiri students studying outside Kashmir and the unemployed Kashmiri youth looking for jobs there, the JRL urged the heads of various Indian states to ensure safety and security of all Kashmiris and to take steps to stop their harassment by various fanatic elements. While Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq continue to remain under house confinement, Muhammad Yasin Malik was released on Saturday morning.
