Awantipora : Unscheduled and frequent power cuts from last few days in Tral sub division of South Kashmir have made the l’ife of its villages miserable.’
The residents told INS that from last couple of days, the Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to supply uninterrupted power to the inhabitants of more than hundred villages in Tral.
“Frequent power cuts are evident here. We do not receive proper power supply as per schedule, which have become a daily affair now since last 3 days,” Customers from different villagers told INS.
Reports said that most of the areas in Tral town are reeling under complete darkness due to frequent and prolonged power cuts.
Students also expressed resentment and said that they are worst hit by this power cut exercise from PDD.
“Our exams are going to start and due to shortage of power, we have to face a lot of hardships. We have been repeatedly asking the authorities to fix this problem but nothing is being done,” said a student, Mohsin Ahmad.
The villagers demanded power supply as per the schedule, and without frequent cuts in the area to take sigh of relief from problems.
Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer, Power development department, Mohd Maqbool Ahanger, Tral, told INS that, “power cuts are due to increase in load at main grid station Awantipora.”
He further said that station is catering four big feeders and keeping in view increasing load, authorities there are now equally distributing electricity to all the areas one by one.
“Load increase is happening due to dip in temperature from last few days”, Maqbool said.
