The heightened security arrangements have been put in place a day after two National Conference workers were shot dead in Old City’s Karfali Mohalla.

“Motor bicycles were being thoroughly frisked at various places including Battamaloo and Dalgate and other entry points to city. Long queues of halted traffic led to traffic jams as well,” commuters said.

Sources said that government forces have established laid naka’s at several places including uptown areas. “Police and CRPF personnel were seen checking ID’s of commuters.”

Besides, they said that the government forces have also sealed all the major entry and exit points of the city.
