“Pending enquiry into his conduct, Mr. Muhammad Haneef Lone, incharge chief engineer, presently attached with PHE, I&FC Department is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect, in terms of rule 31 of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services,” reads an order.

On August 26 this year, the Vigilance Organisation Kashmir said Mohammad Haneef Lone, then Chief Engineer J&K UEED, has by resorting to corrupt and illegal practices, amassed huge movable/immovable properties, thereby raising property highly disproportionate to his known source of income.

“Consequent upon this case FIR No 29/2018 u/s 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) J&K P. C. Act Svt 2006 has been registered against the accused public servant in P/S VoK on 25.08.2018. The sleuths of the vigilance organisation during the wee hours of 26th August conducted multiple raids at Srinagar, Jammu and Bandipora premises of the accused public Servant. It came to fore during the course of initial investigation that the accused has amassed huge assets which include plot of land at Wanbal Rawalpora Srinagar, plot of land at Naaz Colony Bandipora, a palatial house at Wanbal Rawalpora Srinagar, a three storey house at Naaz Colony Bandipora, a flat in Gulposh Apartments at Bemina Srinagar, a Penthouse in Tawi Apartments at Sidhra Jammu besides other valuable movable properties.”

The investigation team during the course of raid was able to lay hands on many important documents ranging from bank receipts and various sale deed papers.
