Bandipora opened up today after remaining shut for five consecutive days post killing of five militants in Sumlar Bandipora.

All business establishments, shops, schools and colleges have reopened while private and public transport also plied smoothly on roads.

Earlier on Tuesday , four families from Kulgam, Shopian, Kangan and Kupwara district claimed that their kin are among the five militants killed on Friday during gunfight at Sokbabun area of Sumlar Village in Bandipora District.

SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulifikar Azad said that relatives of militants have approached them and sought bodies.

“DNA will confirm whether they are their kins or not and after proper and legal procedure, they will get bodies. We have transferred the case to Baramulla Adminstration and only after the completion of legal process the bodies would be handed over to families. It is now Baramulla District Adminstration who would verify and look into this matter further,” Azad  said.
