Gunfight broke out in the area after government forces launched an anti militancy operation during intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

Authorities have already announced suspension of internet services in the area and schools have been ordered to remain closed in wake of the gunfight.

Sources confirmed that three militants have been killed.

While the identity of the three is yet to be officially declared, police sources say they believe Gani Khawaja, Majid Mir and a Pakistani Abu Maaz has been killed.

“Abu Maaz’s killing would be a huge success as he has been active in the region for a long time and it will be big blow to militant network,” a senior police official said.

He further said that the other two, if they are Majid and Gani, they were close associates of Liyaqat who was killed in an encounter earlier.
