Gunfight rages in Sopore; internet snapped, educational institutions closed

Sopore: A gunfight between militants and government forces broke out in Sopore area north Kashmir’s Baramulla district early on Thursday. Authorities have snapped internet in the entire Sopore and announced to suspend class work in all educational institutions.
Reports said that a joint team of Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles and Police launched a cordon and search operation in Arampora area of Teliyan Mohalla late last night.
A contact was established with militants after closing into the targeted spot, reports said.
After a lull for few hours, fierce gunfight resumed in the area and was going on when this report was filed.
Meanwhile, authorities suspended internet in Sopore as precautionary measures. According to the orders of the ADC Sopore, the class work shall remain suspended in all the educational institutions in sub division Sopore on Thursday.
