Mir-led Congress delegation meets Governor, discuss ULB, panchayat polls

Srinagar: A delegation of Indian National Congress led by G.A. Mir, President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.
The delegation members discussed with Governor about their concerns relating to the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies polls and shared their views on various aspects of these elections.
The members apprised Governor about various development needs of their respective areas and overall equitable development of all the three regions of the State.
Governor emphasized the importance of empowerment of people through establishment of local self-governing institutions which will strengthen democratic framework at the grass root level and ensure direct participation of people in the development programmes of their villages and towns.
The delegation comprised Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Vaqar Rasool Wani, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mohd. Amin Bhat, Peerzada Mohammad Syed, Tariq Hamid Karra, Taj Mohi U din, Farooq Andrabi, Surinder Singh Channi, Mrs. KhemlataWakhloo, Abdul Gani Khan and Nissar Mundo.
