Srinagar: After National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the state congress is likely to boycott the recently announced Panchayat and Municipal elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

In view of the elections, the party held emergency meeting with the representatives of all the districts to get their feedback over the situation on the ground for the conduct of polls in the State.

The meeting deliberated on various issues regarding security and safety of voters as well as the candidates.

After holding meeting, the party delegation headed by state converse chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir met with the Governor Satya Pal Malik and briefed him about the situation on the ground, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice Chief, G N Monga told INS.

He said that the party is also going to hold another meeting in this evening in which the final decision over the participation of polls will be taken by the leadership.

He further informed that the party will be making its decision public on tomorrow.
