Govt forms 2 committees for smooth conduct o ULB, panchayat elections

Srinagar: The governor administration on Friday formed separate committees to ensure “smooth inter-departmental coordination” to facilitate the conduct of elections to the Municipal Bodies and Panchayats in the State.

For Urban Local Body polls, the 6-memebr committee will be headed by Financial Commissioner, Housing & Urban Development Department while for panchayat polls, the same member panel is headed Secretary to the Government, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, according to a government order issued here.

“These committees may co-opt any other member(s) during its deliberations and shall be serviced by the Housing and Urban Development Department and the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj respectively,” the order added.
