Water scarcity hits Sopore, protests erupt

Sopore : Residents of Seelu including women,children’s of Sopore in north Kashmir on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against the acute water shortage.

A large number of residents of Seelu village on Saturday hit the roads and blocked Sopore_Kupwara national highway and shouted slogans against PHE department for failed to provide them regular water supply and for ignoring their sufferings in the absence of proper water supply.

The protesting residents talking with INS that our area has been grappling with the water crisis since past one week which has now reached an unbearable point.

The protesters said that they are forced to drink the unhygienic water of streams.They alleged that matter has been brought to the notice of the concerned administration but no improvement has been witnessed.

Protest in the area was on when last reports came.
