Tral : The residents of Batagund village in Tral have expressed resentment against the department of public health engineering (PHE) for failing to provide them pure drinking water supply.
The locals blamed PHE authorities for delaying their long pending demands of installing water infiltration plant in the area.
They were demanding restoration of the water supply scheme which according to them is in pathetic state and is supplying contaminated water to the area along with ‘dead insects’.
They said that area is affected by the shortage of pure water as contaminated water from the water reservoir in between Pastuna and Lurow areas is badly hitting them in the form of different issues.
“There is no pure drinking water in the area and we are being forced to drink dirty water with dead rates and other insects in it. The department seems to be sleeping,” a local resident, Mohammad Amin told INS.
The locals alleged that if such water will continue to reach the area, diseases may break out.
They demanded that water supply should be restored in the area to mitigate the problems of people.
When contacted Assistant Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering, department Tral, Nisar Ahmad Kar, he refuted the claims of people and told INS that, water is not contaminated at all except a pipeline issue of one of the householders, which might be containing some unpleasent particles in water to them.
He said that area already has a filtration plant available but due to deficiency of land, that is not functional yet.
Kar further said if locals will help us to get some land for making a drain, water filtration plant in the area shall be started soon.
