Budgam: Catering more than 4000 inhabits the health immunization centre at village Wagoora of the Central Kashmir’s Budgam district lacks the basic medical facilities and is yet to get the promotion to term it as a Primary Health Centre (PHC). Residents of the village demanded to health authorities to upgrade the centre into PHC to meet the first aid demands of the people.
The village having its population more than 4000 is still facing the neglect in terms of medical facilities, as the village is restricted to immunization centre only hence lacking the basic medical facilities needed for primary health services, locals lamented. They added despite the centre is eligible for promotion to PHC, certainly not any devotion is set to upgrade it.
“We are compelled to visit Community Health Centre Chattergam or other hospitals of Srinagar even in case of basic ailments, and we are supposed to wait for hours to get our turn as these hospitals already witness huge rush of patients,” a group of villagers confided to The INS News.
Women of the hamlet are becoming the worst sufferers in the absence of primary medical facilities. “Most of the times we prefer to seek the private consultations as every time after traveling to other hospitals we have to wait in the line for hours to get our ailments treated,” said Jana, a local. She added the immunization centre must be upgraded to cater the poor population of the village who are forced to spend their hard earned money for seeking private consultations.
When contacted Block Medical Officer (BMO) Chattergam, Dr Kounsar, she said they have already submitted the feasibility report to the department in this regard.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Budgam, Dr GM Dar, said that the BMO of the concerned area has already submitted the feasibility report of the said centre and the same report is forwarded to the planning department. He added the promotion of the said centre is not decided yet, as the report still lies with the Planning department.
