Official sources said that militants attacked the office of MLC Showkat Ganie  and policeman  guards retaliated.  While there was no injury to any one, army’s 3RR, SOG and 14 battalion CRPF cordoned off the area and launched searches in the area. The attacked was presumably carried in a bid to snatch rifles from the policemen there, a police officer said.
