Ganderbal: A bear was caught in Repora bala or Lar area in ganderbal on Wednesday by Wildlife department and police after six hours of efforts.
Locals say that the group of bear was observed moving in orchards and people begun to chase them away. While two escaped one jumped over a walnut tree and got stuck there.
Wildlife deptt was informed and when the team arrived at spot with a cage only, villagers were told that the gun, that fires tranquilizer to animal before caging.
It was only after efforts made by Deputy commissioners office
“The gun finally came from dachigam and we were able to shoot a tranquilizer and put him in cage'” locals said.
Pooice team led by SHO lateef Ahmad was hailed by people for maintaining the law and and order problem.
