JE PHE suspended as Jagerpora Kupwara battles with water borne disease

Kupwara: A Junior Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) was placed under suspension on sunday with immediate effect and inquiry has been launched as well. The area is battling with water borne disease.

Officials identified the JE as Azhar Ahmad posted in jagerpora area.

Water borne disease that broke out in jagerpora area since Friday afternoon was initially found to be waterborne disease.

“It is found that the disease is waterborne and has spread due to the water supplied to the area by PHE department, concerned JE of PHE, Azhar Ahmad and an inquiry had also been ordered into the matter.” said ADC Kupwara.

The health officials said that our several teams are continuously visiting the area form the last three days and are keenly monitoring the situation, which is under control.

“On the first day over five hundred patient were treated, on second day only one hundred patients were treated, the numbers are decreasing each passing day,” doctor Nazir Ahmad treating upon the patients said.

The disease is in control now as there is decrease in the patients coming to these mobile care campus,” Dr. Nazir added.

Meanwhile DDC Kupwara also visited and order repairment of PHE scheme in the area and availability of all the facilities from health department.

Jagerpora is the native village of MLA kupwara Bashir Ahmad dar, who himself is monitoring the situation.
