Two HM militants killed in Khumriyal: Police

August 02: Two local militants were Thursday killed in Khumriyal area of northern district of Kupwara.

According to police spokesman government forces in the afternoon had established a Naka in the area, and while the checking at the Naka point was going on, militants fired on the Naka party which was retaliated.

The killed militants were identified as Bilal Ahmad Shah, a resident of Shatmuqam and Zahoor Ahmad.

“They were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit HM,” police said.

According to police the duo were involved in several attacks on the security establishments.

“Besides one AK 47 and one INSAS rifle was recovered back,” police said adding that the INSAS was yesterday snatched from a policeman in Kandhar area of Kupwara.

“No collateral damage occurred during the encounter. Police has registered a case and investigation into the matter has been initiated,” police said.
