People foiled attempt to loot bank in Kulgam: Police

Kulgam: Police on Friday claimed that people in Mohanpora area of District Kulgam foiled looting of a bank by militants.

According to police spokesman militants had barged inside a branch of J&K Bank at Mohanpora with the intention to loot the bank. However people resisted the attempt and forced ‘them to flee from the spot’.

Infuriated by this, police says militants, fired resulting in injuries to two civilians and a bank guard.

“No cash was looted from the bank,” he said.

According to spokesman one civilian sustained injury on his arm while the other got injured in his leg.

“They were subsequently shifted to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Soon Police reached the spot and initiated investigation in the instant matter,” he added.
