Police foils contractual employees March towards Raj Bhawan

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday thwarted move of contractual employees working under Centre’s Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) march towards the official residence of Governor N N Vohra.n

They were demanding regularisation of their services.

The protesting employees assembled at Polo View Park here and started marching towards Raj Bhawan in Gupkar area of the city. Police swung into action and detained many employees.

Meanwhile employees of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) on the second consecutive day, today staged a protest demonstration at Partap Park in Srinagar, demanding their absorption in Rural Development Department and PR

Scores of the employees from all districts of Jammu and Kashmir assembled at Partap Park and protested against what they termed “successive Governments played with the future by giving hallow promises and assurances to them.”

The protestors include programme officers, MIS operators, Technical Assistants, Gram Rozgar Schemes  Sahayaks (GRS), and Accounts Assistants. The protesting employees said that they are highly qualified, skilled and experienced working in a department for twelve years in the Rural development department and PR but they have not been regularised yet.
