Passenger detained over ‘hijack’ remarks in Srinagar

Police on Monday detained a flight passenger at Srinagar airport after he said that flight is hijacked and people need not untie their seat belts.

The flight passenger identified as Lakhvinder Kumar, son of Balwant Chand, a resident of Mandi Punjab was handed over to police by airport authorities after Indigo Chandigarh Srinagar flight crew lodged a formal complaint against him that he while landing at Airport uttered that the passengers need not untie their seat belts because the flight is hijacked.

Kumar has been now handed over to Humahama Police station by airport authorities.

“It could not be ascertained whether the man from Punjab uttered these threatening dictates foolishly or in a sarcastic way,” the official said.
