One child killed, six injured as live grenade explodes; critical’s shifted to Srinagar

Shopian: One child was killed and three others were injured after a live grenade, they were playing with, went off at Memandar area of Shopian district on Wednesday.

Police sources said that the incident happened at Shakh Nower Memandar Shopian.

They identified the dead boy as Arslan Aslam sheikh s/o Mohammad Aslam sheikh, while the injured were identified as Salik Iqbal Malik , Thiar Ahmad s/O kharsheed Ahmad shakh, and Razia jan D/o khursheed Ahmad

SSP Shopian Sandeep Chowdhary said that they are verifying the case.

According to locals all the children are between the age group of 2-4 years and were quickly shifted to hospital, where the condition of three is stated to be critical and have been consequently referred to Srinagar.

Hospital authorities confirmed the death of one child and three injured.
