Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Thursday expressed its serious concern over the fresh spurt in the CASOs across Kashmir especially in South Kashmir areas, stating that intense frisking and search operations have triggered a fresh wave of “terror” among people.
In a statement issued here, the amalgam led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that elderly, children and women are living in constant fear especially in south Kashmir. The Hurriyat registered its strong protest over re-starting CASOs by the forces, the statement said.
The amalgam also strongly denounced the authorities’ decision of caging the chairman of the amalgam, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his Nigeen residence terming it as political vendetta.
The Hurriyat also strongly condemned the continuous house detention of senior Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani, who has been caged in his own house and arresting the JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik and lodging him in a police station. The Hurriyat said by employing highly undemocratic and repressive methods to push the leadership into submission and to break their resolve, however, all such moves are destined to fail.
The Hurriyat Conference said that world struggles are witness that no genuine movement can be muzzled through military might and that aspirations of people have to be acknowledged sooner or later and the issues resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of masses.
The Hurriyat Conference castigated the police for arresting father-son duo in Wagam, Pulwama and unleashing “terror” through nocturnal raids and slapping PSA on nine pro-freedom activists of Kishtwar and putting them behind the bars stating that these coercive measures cant crush the popular sentiment in the Jammu and Kashmir as “entire nation is moving ahead with full commitment and steadfastnes with one goal and that is to seek implementation of right to self determination.”
