Srinagar: Army Thursday paid tributes to Sep Shammi Singh who had gone missing on 11 December 2017 after coming under landslide and was found June 13.
According to Army spokesman Singh went missing ‘fighting nature’s fury in Kashmir’s frontier Naugam Sector in Kupwara district last year’.
“The Search and Rescue operations recommenced after the snow melted and ended on 13 June 2018. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Maj Gen S K Sharma, Chief of Staff Chinar Corps and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation,” he said.
Singh was part of an Operational Team which was patrolling the forward areas ‘in the formidable heights along the Line of Control and got swept away due to a landslide during patrolling.’
TSingh, was 26 years old and had joined the Army in 2012. He belonged to Village Makroli of Indora Tehsil in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh and is survived by his parents.
His mortal remains were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours.
