Baramulla: To discuss the modalities for the inclusion of district Baramulla under the category of “Aspirational Districts”, Chief Medical Officer Dr B A Chalkoo chaired a meeting with the officials of the education department, ICDS department and All BMOs of district Baramulla here on Saturday.
According to an official handout, the district required coordinated efforts for overall development in almost all aspects of education like enrollment, gender parity, cleanliness, for improvement in all indices reflecting progress.
“Under education sector, short-term and long-term targets viz., reduction in dropout rate by 50%, improvement in learning outcomes from existing 43% to 90%, improving girl literacy ratio, transaction ratio to upper primary, etc. have been finalized,” it reads.
A core monitoring group of administration and academia has also been formulated to do real monitoring of the transformation indicators. All BMOs were directed to take activation of all employees to achieve 100% in all the components of health department and other departments.
What’s Aspirational Districts Programme
Launched by the Prime Minister in January, it aims to quickly and effectively transform these districts. The broad contours of the programme are Convergence of Central & State Schemes, Collaboration of Central, State level ‘Prabhari’ Officers & District Collectors, and Competition among districts driven by a mass Movement. With States as the main drivers, the program will focus on the strength of each district, identify low-hanging fruits for immediate improvement, measure progress, and rank districts.
